My Ultimate 11.11 Sale Season Shopping List

my-ultimate-11.11-sale-season-shopping-list

11.11 Singles Day Shopping Festival is just around the corner and Heartland Boy has already begun snapping up some pre-sales that are taking place even as he pens this article. His shopping list includes consumer goods that have been delayed till now to household essential items. As the one tasked to control the household budget, he always makes use of the year-end season sale to submit a good report card. Here is my ultimate 11.11 sale season shopping list, which is by no way exhaustive.

Foodpanda

Foodpanda is rolling over its “auntie knows the real XX.XX (insert date and month) deals” campaign. Heartland Boy has been using promo code “REAL11” to enjoy $11 off with minimum spend of $22 at selected snacks and drinks shops. As each account user is applicable to apply this promo code twice, Heartland Boy roped in Heartland Girl to get into the act too. He used it to purchase milk, yoghurt, bread, biscuits, drinks from shops such as Hao mart, Marks & Spencer and Shell Select.

A particular fortunate incident happened when the cereal he ordered from Marks & Spencer was out of stock. This caused the total order to fall below the minimum spend to qualify for the discount ($22) but Foodpanda honoured the discount anyway. As a result, his cookies and digestive biscuits cost less than $2 in total as shown in Diagram 1. Pretty good ending to the initial disappointment of missing out on his breakfast cereal.

Heartland Boy understands that there are even more deals in store on the actual day. For now, he is contented with these savings:

Retail Value: $83

Amount Paid: $40

Total Savings: $43

Don’t forget to activate your ShopBack button to earn cashback when buying your drinks and snacks from Foodpanda!

Guardian

Heartland Boy took full advantage of Guardian 1-1 promotion to stock up on household essentials. He stacked this promotion with ShopBack’s 5% cashback and with a DBS/POSB credit card to enjoy a further 5% cashback (capped at $5 and only available on Fridays and Mega Days).

No impulse purchase was made here as the items bought were items that his household uses daily. His loot included non-perishables such as Shokubutsu body wash, toothbrush, toothpaste as well as Vitamin C tablets. Finally, he applied Guardian’s own promo code “11PARTY10”, made available during the 11.11 Single’s sales period, to enjoy a further $10 off $120. (See Diagram 2)

Retail Value: $242

Amount Paid: $111

Total Savings: $140 (including cashback)

Other merchant he considered was Strawberrynet as introduced by his sister.

Chope

Given that Christmas is around the corner, Heartland Boy feels that it is never a bad idea to start shopping for some dining vouchers. Chope has some pretty decent deals Heartland is eying at the moment. He may snap up some vouchers from Tunglok (40% off) to combine with a visit to SEA Aquarium when he utilises his SingapoREdiscover vouchers.

Alternatively, $24 (usual price $41) for a 3-course set lunch at Pete’s Place (Grand Hyatt) looks like a pretty good deal too. A decent pit stop for authentic Italian food while we shop for Christmas gifts.

On 11 Nov, payment made via DBS PayLah (unlocks higher interest rate in DBS Multiplier for some) gets further discount ranging from $5 to $9 depending on the spending incurred.

Shopee

On 11/11 Singles Day, he will focus the bulk of his spending on Shopee. Some big-ticket items that are already sitting in his shopping cart include an Apple Airpods Pro and accessories such as a Laptop stand to make working from home more enjoyable.

Since his shopping cart consists of some big ticket items, Heartland Boy may split his purchases and use a combination of these cards subject to the vouchers’ availability on Shopee:

  • A DBS Credit Card to get $30 off with min. spend of $200 (15% discount off total bill) or $25 off with min. spend of $200 (12.5% discount)
  • A Citibank Cashback+ Card to get $40 off with min spend of $300 (13.3% discount) or $25 off with min. spend of $200 (12.5% discount)
  • An OCBC 365 Card to get $18 off with min. spend of $150. This translates into 12% off the total bill but this is limited to the first 1,000 redemptions only.

Do also note that the UOB One Card is offering a permanent additional 5% cashback for purchases on Shopee. This is on top of the usual 3.33% – 5% cashback card holder is entitled to provided qualifying conditions are met. He thinks is best to use this credit card on non-sale days or if he is unsuccessful in collecting any of the bank vouchers on Shopee.

Before you start shopping happily at Shopee, do remember to activate the ShopBack button and register for ShopBack’s bonus cashback challenge. You may be amongst the first 3,000 winners who earn $5 by spending at least $50 on Shopee via ShopBack. You may sign up for ShopBack using this referral link and start earning cashback on your purchases and in-store purchases.

Heartland Boy knows that he is probably just scratching the surface here as there are plenty of merchants (such as Taobao and OnTheList) out there eyeing a slice of the pie. Whatever the case, happy shopping folks and the best of luck!
