Minutes after rushing out from the toilet to show Heartland Boy a positive pregnancy test kit result, Heartland Girl exclaimed, “We are going on a babymoon!!!”
Sure, Heartland Boy has heard of honeymoon, but what exactly is a babymoon? Amidst the euphoria, it was not lost on Heartland Boy that perhaps this was one of his wife’s ingenuous ideas again. It didn’t take long in his marriage for him to realise that the common thread linking her ideas had always been Heartland Boy’s monies.
“Errr, what is a babymoon?” asked Heartland Boy.
“It is a vacation for parents-to-be before the baby arrives. We can rekindle our romance, strengthen our bond, private couple time etc,” replied Heartland Girl matter-of-factly.
Tears welled up in Heartland Boy’s eyes; uncertain whether these were genuinely tears of joy or tears of knowing that his pockets would be emptied again. As the reality sank in, Heartland Boy began to research on babymoon ideas. He initially pondered over a babymoon staycation in Singapore. However, his online research consistently yielded Bali as one of the best places for babymoon. Therefore, after getting overwhelming consensus from the mother-to-be, they chose Bali as their top babymoon destination.
Why Bali Is An Excellent Babymoon Destination in Asia
The Heartland Couple chose Bali as their babymoon destination for a few reasons:
1. A Short Flight Away
Bali is less than 3 hours away from Singapore. This means it is a relatively short and endurable flight for pregnant ladies. It also helps that there are plenty of budget airlines plying this route and therefore flight tickets are relatively affordable, even at very short notice.
2. Lots of prenatal friendly activities
Heartland Boy thinks this is a huge draw. There are spa treatment packages in Seminyak and Ubud that specifically cater for pregnant mums-to-be. If you are a yoga enthusiast, look no further than the yoga enclave of Ubud where several yoga studios offer carefully constructed prenatal yoga routines. Additionally, there are lots of wellness restaurants which promote holistic nutrition. This ensures that the mother and the foetus get the nutrients that they require. All these babymoon activities on offer make it worthwhile to fly to Bali for a short getaway.
3. Excellent resorts and beaches

Bali is probably one of the most affordable destinations to enjoy world class hotels and service standards
Bali boasts plenty of resorts, villas and beaches that many cities would kill for. These resorts offer a safe environment for pregnant couples to relax their exhausted minds. This will be a welcome relief before the hectic requirements of parenthood takes over. The sandy white beaches also offer an opportunity for a romantic beach getaway, or to “rekindle their romance” as Heartland Girl tactfully put it. Ultimately, staying safe throughout the trip was a top priority. Therefore, their familiarity with the island, language and culture ultimately led Heartland Boy to choose Bali as an ideal location for their first and ONLY babymoon.
5D4N Babymoon Itinerary
It was an unusual holiday or sorts for the Heartland Couple because the days spent in Bali were very laid back and relaxed. They divided their time between Nusa Dua and Ubud; areas that are more tranquil compared to Kuta and Seminyak.
As one of the typical babymoon activities, Heartland Girl had a prenatal massage at Karsa Spa, Ubud. Karsa Spa sells very affordable spa packages which offers panoramic views of padi fields. Heartland Boy and Girl shared a private room where their respective massage treatments were carried out. Her masseur in particular was very professional and experienced. She devoted extra attention throughout the treatment and ensured that the foetus and mum were both safe.
She also had a hair cream bath at Prana Spa in Seminyak. Prana Spa was voted as one of the top spas in Bali and her experience there certainly lived up to those expectations.
She skipped the yoga sessions as she was not a practitioner before her pregnancy; it is not recommended to try new activities during pregnancy.
Heartland Girl was also thrilled to have really tasty vegetarian food at Bali Buda on a friend’s recommendation. Meanwhile, Heartland Boy also had a good break soaking in the infinity pool at the hotel as he reflected nervously about the next phase of his life-fatherhood.

Maximise Hotel Savings With The Entertainer
Total spend per person is a rather manageable amount of $640. What’s worth highlighting is that Heartland Boy managed to achieve total cost savings of $130 per pax on their hotel accommodation. This was done through utilising Entertainer’s 1 for 1 voucher. Basically, Heartland Boy paid one night and got the second night FREE! Here is step by step guide on how to extract the maximum savings when staying at a resort which is a participating merchant of Entertainer.
1. On the Entertainer App, look for Travel and select Indonesia. Sieve through the list of participating merchants.
2. Go to the main websites of the shortlisted hotels. Email these properties directly to ask for a quote for a specific room type during your travel period.
3. After receiving the initial quotes, reply that you would require a quote based on Entertainer’s stay one night, get second night free. Some hotels may revise their rates, some would not. That is fine. Compare the revised quotes with third party websites. Make your own judgment to ascertain the amount of savings you can achieve with the Entertainer. Do factor in bonus cashback from Shopback when making the comparison.
In particular, Alaya Ubud stood out amongst the 2 hotels during their stay. It has an award-winning restaurant set amongst the padi fields. To get to the restaurant, one would have to take a romantic stroll through the boardwalk.
Every morning, they woke up to the serene environment of nature – morning crows from roosters or the chirps from birds. Their hotel has a balcony that looks out to padi fields where Heartland Girl could relax, recharge and revitalise.
The most impressive part about Alaya Ubud is the hotel room. It is fitted with high quality specifications such as marble floor and vanity top. There is even a gigantic bathtub right in the middle of the hotel room. They thoroughly enjoyed their 2 nights there owing to the great service level from the staff. Considering that it was only SGD125 per night per room (after Entertainer’s discount), this was indeed an amazing deal. They would return to this hotel without hesitation, and the same applies for Courtyard by Marriott Nusa Dua which they had stayed in a couple of years ago.
An Amazing Babymoon Experience
Relieved that the babymoon was finally done with, Heartland Boy explained to Heartland Girl, “Unfortunately, we are unlikely to be travelling for the next 2 years with a baby in tow.”
Heartland Girl replied grudgingly, “That’s alright. But what do you think I should get for my push gift?”
“Don’t push your luck…”
To end off this article, the Heartland Couple is looking forward to adding a Heartland Baby Girl into the family in October 2018. The CFO in the house has compiled a list of freebies and samples that first-time parents should not miss out on!

Hi Ashley,
Congrats to you too! When we were there in April 2018, there was no health concern/warning raised over Zika. But I would still advise you to be cautious and put on some mosquito repellent patches! Thanks.
